Abstract :

We propose both theoretical and experimental studies of continuous-wave second-harmonic generation in a periodically-poled congruent lithium niobate crystal doped with a magnesium oxide crystal (MgO:PPLN). The temperature distribution in the crystal is obtained by solving: (i) the propagation equations for the fundamental harmonic and second harmonic method and (ii) heat transfer equation by finite elements method where the longitudinal and transverse variations of temperature are taken into account. We present a comparison between theoretical simulations and experimental results. A good agreement is observed in term of temperature acceptance or temperature control.
